Privacy Policy

Information we collect

When you create an account and use Tandem, we collect:

• Account information — your email address, display name, and password. Your password is hashed (argon2id) before it's ever stored; we can't see or recover the plain-text version.
• Couple/space information — that you and your partner are linked together, and invite codes used to connect your accounts.
• Content you create — your weekly reset answers, shared tasks and projects, and vault entries (notes, appreciations, and any photos you choose to add).
• Subscription information — your subscription status (e.g. active, trialing, canceled). Your payment details (card numbers, etc.) are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play — we never see or store them.
• Technical information — standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, request metadata) generated automatically when you use the app.

How we use this information

We use the information above to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the app
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure
• Sync content between you and your partner — and only your partner
• Process and manage your subscription
• Send account-related emails, like password resets
• Diagnose problems and keep the service reliable

We do not use your content to train any models, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Who we share information with

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. We do work with a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, strictly to run the app:

• Amazon Web Services (S3) — stores vault photos in a private bucket; photos are only ever accessible via short-lived, signed links generated by our server.
• Resend — delivers transactional emails, like password reset links.
• RevenueCat — manages subscription state on our behalf, so we can tell whether a couple's subscription is active without handling payment details ourselves.
• Apple and Google — process all in-app purchase payments for subscriptions; their own privacy policies govern how they handle your payment information.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tandem, our users, or others.

Data security

Passwords are hashed with argon2id, never stored in plain text. Vault photos live in a private storage bucket with no public access — every read goes through a short-lived, signed link generated on demand. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we design with your privacy as a first priority, not an afterthought.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account (see below), we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can request account deletion at any time — see our account deletion page for how. For any other request, contact us at hello@tandemapp.love.

Cookies

This website uses exactly one cookie: a strictly-necessary, httpOnly session cookie that keeps you logged in to the account portal. We don't use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.

Children's privacy

Tandem is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

International users

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, which may have different data protection laws. We take reasonable steps to protect your information wherever it's processed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
